PA in Maryland is not Pennsylvania

A bill passed by the Maryland House and sent to the Maryland Senate was released to the full Senate yesterday by the Senate Rules Committee.  This bill is known as HB235.

Maryland’s HB235 is a discrimination bill dealing with gender identity.  It defines gender identity as “a gender-related identity or appearance of an individual, regardless of the individual’s assigned sex at birth.”  It would protect transgender individuals from discrimination in the areas of employment, housing, and lending.

The italics in the bill’s definition, indicating my astonishment, are mine.  (more…)

Marching to a Different Drummer

I learned it when I was young.  The saying was so widespread that all anyone had to say was “different drummer” and everyone understood.  In fact, the entire quote, by Henry David Thoreau, is

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” (more…)

Keep swimming, Nancy

I have been having an unsettling nightmare lately in which I have been in a shipwreck in shark-infested waters.  My 110 pound dog is drifting with me on a small lifeboat that can only hold two—her and me.  I view someone else from the shipwreck swimming towards me.  As she gets closer, I realize that it’s Nancy Pelosi!  “Let me in!” she pleads.  I am so torn.   I have a hard time sharing a continent with this woman, but I’m supposed to let her on my boat? (more…)

Beating . . . er . . . Honoring Your Wife the Shariah Way

Get ready for the hope and change!  We approach it every day.

In an ABC “Townhall” hosted by Christiana Amanpour on October 3 entitled “Holy War: Should Americans Fear Islam?”, one of the guests was Anjem Choudary.  Mr. Choudary is a Muslim cleric stating openly that the goal of Islam is to have a single world Caliphate where everyone is either Muslim or dead. I do not say that this is the goal of Radical Islam because I am talking about Mr. Choudary’s representations and his is the only true kind of Islam, which is not Radical.  I emphasize openly lest I be accused of spreading a conspiracy theory, which requires secretiveness and stealth.  For those of you who are Radical Islam Deniers, you should perhaps look up the other 377,465 times that this goal has been publicly stated in English.
